Make Dating Great Again!

It’s 2017 people. Hook up culture should be a thing of the past. My name is Adam Gruett, and I have next to 0 dating experience. But I am woke and have compiled some thoughts over time from all you savages out there. I’m not a writer, nor will I ever be. Honestly, I wrote this because I was avoiding real life responsibilities.

I myself have always been a sucker for a girl who wants to get dinner. Whether that be as a friend, or as something more. We need to go on more dates plain and simple. This is the biggest way we can change our dating culture. Fellas, ask the girl that you constantly stare at when working out to go see a movie or get some food. Ladies, if the dudes not a total weirdo give him a chance. Also, don’t be afraid to ask a guy to do something later. Nine time out of ten, he would love to hang out with you but is too scared to put himself out there.

Congrats! The person you asked out on a date said yes! Below I have created a list of what your first five dates should look like.

1st/2nd date: A casual dinner or coffee date where you first talk with them is always a good place to start. You’ll learn some key details about the person depending on what they’ll tell you. It’s scary and awkward at first but it could be worth it!

3rd date: Do something that you’re passionate about. For me, this would be taking the girl to a sporting event. My future wife will have to put up with my love of sports. This shows the other person what you like to do outside of a job or school.

4th date: Do something that he/she is passionate about. It’s always important to learn as much as possible about the person you’re seeing and also what they’re into.
5th date: If you’re lucky enough to get a fifth date, you’re doing well! This by far should be your most intimate date. Maybe go to a fancy dinner or cook for them. Do something that you normally wouldn’t do.

After your fifth date, you should have learned a lot about the person, sometimes even too much. (Haha). By taking it slow, you rut out the negatives that you wouldn’t have seen in someone by just hooking up. It’s also in your best interest to avoid physical contact up until this point besides a few kisses and hugs. When you base your relationships off of physical attraction it seems to die before it even starts.

Hope you guys can take a page out of my playbook. Thanks for reading.

Make UWM Great Again

In arguably one of the best cities in Wisconsin (Milwaukee) there lies a university that is not so great. According to Collegemeasures.org, The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee only has a 43 percent graduation rate which is significantly less than other UW schools. (Madison- 82%, La Crosse- 70%, Eau Claire- 66%, Point- 60%, Oshkosh- 50%) What goes through your mind when you see that less then half of us UWM students fail to graduate? Is it the lack of keeping the students at the university? Or are we just that stupid and drop out? Well the answer is that people leave UWM. The problem is commuters, people who go visit other schools on the weekends, and people who transfer after a year. I blame our Student Association and the leaders of UWM. There are not enough events that interest ALL people. We can change this! It only takes a few students to speak up and lead instead of being silent and letting our school stay the same. Guys, we are a glorified community college full of 28,042 students with an absence of school spirit. We need to keep students in the good land, we need to keep these students at UWM. Make Milwaukee a place where people travel temporarily, yet stay a lifetime. Since Milwaukeans are so diverse, there’s never a dull moment! The possibilities are endless! Here a list of things that make Milwaukee great: Our endless festivals, (Gay and lesbian population’s Pride Fest to the country’s largest Irish and German festivals), Summerfest, State Fair, Milwaukee County Zoo, professional and semi professional sports (Brewers, Bucks, Wave, Admirals), many concert venues such as The Rave, Pabst Theater, Miramar, Milwaukee Art Museum, Bradford beach and many other scenic views to name a few. UWM could be a place where your Madison friends flock to on the weekends to watch a Brewers/Bucks game or check out some cuties at Bradford. When I proposed my idea of Spring Prowl I had every intent to bring people together which would help with enrollment numbers, school pride, and unity. But we all know how that went down. If you feel like UWM is boring and lacking school pride, do something about it. Don’t be silent. They say college is the best 4 years of your life. So let’s make them great. I want to see more ideas not just for this event but new events to make this school awesome. If you have any questions or concern, please reach out to me. I know we can all make this happen. Thank you for you support. Prowl on UWM, Prowl on.

New year, new me

Hello my name is Adam Gruett. If you’re reading this and you know who I am, this is definitely not my scene. Yet, 2016 brought me here. I figured since it’s the New Year I should go out on a limb and start something new. Well here it is. I’ve always had a little creative niche in me and I felt like it was time for the world to hear it. This blog will include many things that are dear to me such as sports, opinions, life itself, and pretty much anything in between. Also feel free to send me anonymous questions or suggestions in the section below. I will write about the stuff that you send me. So send away! Hopefully you like it!
